What a Kayak Bass Fisher Wants for Christmas

Dear Santa,

I realize that I’m 40+ years old and since I already have my two front teeth,  I was hoping you could hook me up with some cool kayak swag for Christmas. After all -I have been a super good boy and have respected family time, called my mom, gave at church and served the community. I hope you find room on the sleigh for these rockin’ gadgets! I know I’m asking for a lot, if space is an issue I will rent an extra sleigh!

Building Stamina

As an average guy with an expansive waste line and little stamina, who enjoys the beauty of a chicken fried steak over a side of fries compared to a rugged hike up hill to take in a sunset, I decided that would have to change if I wanted adventure in my life. It has been instilled in me over years, from boy scouts to manhood, Be Prepared. How could I be prepared for adventure when it was an adventure getting out of bed on most days?

A year and a half ago I was enjoying a Whataburger, combo #1, in the office parking lot when I saw a sign that said Elite Sports Training & Crossfit. I had no idea what Crossfit was, but did understand the concept of sports training. I stepped into a warehouse, with no air conditioning and limited equipment. This is no big box gym where you go to check in and check out the scene. This place is about results!

After a quick introduction, I decided that this was for me.  I have spent the last year and a half in a transformation stage that I never expected. Today I am more explosive, stronger and have a greater endurance than I had just a year earlier. It took the courage it took to walk into that door.

I applied my Crossfit experience to what I wanted to take on next, which was competitive bass fishing from a kayak.

Crossfit gave me the necessary tools to compete on a higher level in the kayak fishing community. It enables me to go farther faster and stay out lo nger even during the intense Texas heat and winds.

I realize that this isn’t for everyone, but my goal is to challenge you to start doing something to fill that adventure hole inside you!  Whether it’s walking around the block or doing body weight exercises in your home. Anything you do to better your physical abilities will pay a 100% return on what you decide to do in your personal life.

Who would have ever thought that a weak middle aged guy would find adventure in a Crossfit gym in North Richland Hills Texas?  It’s waiting for you, check out the link to the box and enjoy!

Welcome

As an average guy, with an average job I decided that my life needed some adventure. I have always been outdoorsmen but have decided to take it up a notch by doing some different things. I love to fish and have been doing so for the last 15 years. I owe much of what I know about fishing to my late father in-law, Robert Hatter. He taught me patience, fish instinct and to always keep a positive outlook on the day no matter what the action. I took that spring board and jumped into the world of Kayak Tournament Fishing. Kayak fishing has allowed me to meet a bunch of great guys that are operating on the fringe of the angling world. Most of these guys know their fishing and it affords great opportunity to learn how to fish and micro manage a lake. When you’re not afforded the luxury of having an outboard 250, you kind of have to pick your spots and make the most of the opportunities in them.

I started kayak fishing 2 years ago with the average, big box retail, kayak. Through meeting people in this sport I have been to learn about various equipment and surround myself with the top tier of sponsors. I currently fish the Hobie Pro Angler 14. This boat is the top of the food chain in Kayak Bass Fishing. It not only affords me a stable platform, with great stability but also it looks cool on the water and it is totally hands free. I am going to save my overall review for a video piece at a later date. It’s my personality that when I decide to do something I go all in. I go way over the top and this is what has happened with my relationship with Mariner-Sails Dallas. You cannot find a more knowledgeable, friendly staff than the peeps at Mariner. The store is loaded with whatever you need and the cool thing is that they have it in stock so you don’t have to wait round on shipping. Mariner can put you in the right boat for you and outfit it with everything you will need to be angling within hours of picking it up from their store. Did I mention the service? Service was key for me due to having many questions. All I can say is that these people are the most patient folks I have found, so whether you’re an expert or a novice Mariner Sails is the place to go for whatever you need.

I know thisB931E100-8985-468D-8441-84ACFFFF458C-7554-000006C75B2B1ACD is supposed to be about adventure, but you have to know the adventurer       before you follow them on the journey. This site will contain info about a cool trip into Mexico, Fly Fishing around the Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas areas, Kayak Bass Fishing Tournament Trail, as well as any urban, DFW Adventure, that may find its way to my door. I hope you enjoy the reports and feel free to post your own fishing adventures, because besides going I also like to read other great adventure reports from around the globe.
